No one has ever accused James Bond films of being a bastion of political correctness or racial sensitivity. The villains are often racial stereotypes, and the less said about the Bond girls the better. But You Only Live Twice takes the standard Bond bigotry to new, extremely gross heights. And no, not just because Little Nellie is an absolute joke. Some of the key villains in this film are Japanese soldiers, all of whom are also (apparently) ninjas. The racist comments about Japanese and Chinese people flow freely throughout. And, most damningly, Bond actually disguises himself as a Japanese man halfway through, using a variety of means including taping his eyes. Oof. That'd never get made today... hopefully (no, that isn't a script idea for Bond 25).
