10 Movies You Wish Were Made Differently
1. A Found Footage Style - Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2
After The Blair Witch Project took audiences by storm in 1999, it was a foregone conclusion that the found footage smash hit would end up with a sequel - as most all successful horror movies do.
And while Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 was quickly slung together for release barely a year later, fans and critics alike were baffled that it deviated from the original's winning formula.
Despite the obvious novel appeal of the found footage format, Book of Shadows was bizarrely shot as a traditional narrative film instead.
And while the sequel's narrative was a bust no matter how it was filmed, it just makes no sense at all to ditch a fresh style that audience responded to in favour of more conventional filmmaking.
Perhaps the filmmakers felt that the cat was out of the bag with regard to the original film's conceit, but even so, it's little surprise that Book of Shadows grossed less than 20% of its predecessor considering it didn't even look like it was part of the same franchise.
As has been a common theme throughout this article, audiences value consistency above almost everything else.
