10 Movies You Wish Were Made Differently
2. Stop-Motion Animation - Alice In Wonderland (2010)
In theory, Tim Burton was a terrific choice of director to helm a new take on Alice in Wonderland, though his 2010 movie made one fatal mistake: going the live action route.
Despite Burton's Alice being budgeted at a gigantic $200 million, the end result was a sickly avalanche of hideously blurry CGI, with many prominent performers - namely Helena Bonham Carter - being given uncanny valley digital makeovers.
There's no tactile feel to this version of Wonderland, which couldn't feel more counter to the many believable worlds Burton has created in the past.
Clearly, Alice in Wonderland would've been an infinitely more interesting project if Burton opted to render his vision in stop-motion, as he did so wonderfully in both Corpse Bride and later Frankenweenie.
This approach would've given audiences a distinctly otherworldly aesthetic while still retaining a practical quality, as opposed to the joyless digital landscape we ended up with.
