10 Movies You Won't Believe Turn 10 Years Old In 2016

9. Superman Returns

He€™s now suiting up on the small screen as another DC Comics superhero (The Atom, in Arrow), but it€™ll soon have been ten full years since Brandon Routh burst onto our screens as Superman, in Bryan Singer€™s summer 2016 comic book movie Superman Returns. The film failed to ignite a franchise, so this ended up being Routh€™s only appearance in the role. Now that we€™ve seen Henry Cavill€™s Supes snapping the neck of Zod, though, some of us wish that Brandon Routh had stuck around instead. Snyder€™s and Singer€™s takes on DC€™s big blue boy scout couldn€™t be more different, after all. Routh€™s version was a deliberate throwback to Christopher Reeve€™s iconic portrayal of the character. Indeed, Superman Returns was perceived as a continuation of that franchise, albeit one that ignored the existence of Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest For Peace. Routh, really, isn€™t the problem with the film. He€™s charming as Clark Kent and refreshingly upbeat as Superman. He really sold the idea that not all superheroes need to be dark and gritty, which most directors now seem to have forgotten. The plot of Superman Returns isn€™t particularly memorable, though, and the film didn€™t become a huge box office success. A shame, that.
