10 Movies You'll Never See For INSANE Reasons
4. It's Been Locked In Legal Limbo For Over 15 Years - Black Water Transit
Black Water Transit is a crime drama directed by Tony Kaye (American History X) that stars Laurence Fishburne as a shipping executive who crosses paths with a dangerous smuggler (Karl Urban) in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans.
Though shooting concluded in August 2007, in the years that followed the film became tangled in a legal challenge from financier Aramid Entertainment, as the production company had failed to complete and release the movie in the timeframe agreed with Aramid.
A settlement was eventually reached in 2014, though to this day the film's status remains up in the air, likely complicated by the fact that rights holder David Bergstein was found guilty of fraud in 2018 and sentenced to eight years in prison.
Considering that the better part of two decades have now passed since filming wrapped, it seems overwhelmingly unlikely that Black Water Transit will ever be released, even though it's become something of a curio in the lost media subculture.
