10 Movies You'll Never See For INSANE Reasons

3. Prince Refused To Release It - Kevin Smith's Prince Documentary

Kevin Smith has spoken extensively over the years about how he infamously shot a documentary about Prince.

The director got in touch with the pop legend while seeking permission to use one of his songs in his movie Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and ended up being asked to shoot a documentary of the Prince: A Celebration fan festival which took place in June 2001.

Smith agreed and spent a week shooting the doc, which includes lengthy sit-down interviews with the artist himself as well as his fans, without pay.

However, when the shoot was completed, Prince's producer informed Smith that the doc may very well simply end up in the singer's "vault" and never actually see the light of day - a revelation which baffled Smith.

And yet it turned out to be true - Smith was sent on his way and never heard another word from Prince prior to his 2016 death.

While Smith more recently said that some of the interviews he shot were examined by filmmakers producing a Prince documentary for Netflix and could be included in it, we're clearly never going to see the full finished result of Smith's own labour.
