10 Musical Biopics Hollywood Needs To Make Next

After Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, how about Ziggy?

For a while, musical biopics had fallen out of fashion. Following the huge critical success of Walk The Line, others looked much poorer in comparison. Recently though, there’s been a resurgence, and there may be more on the way too.

2Pac, Notorious B.I.G. and N.W.A. have all enjoyed moderate success with biopics over the last few years, but two recent big hitters have seen the genre truly return to prominence.

Bohemian Rhapsody drew criticism for fictionalising large swathes of its story but scored big at the Oscars, while Rocketman has offered a fresh take on the idea and is reaping the rewards.

Real life is often stranger than fiction, and there’s several other stars with stories worth telling. All of these have left their mark on the music industry, but their personal lives offer the kind of depth, development and often tragedy that these sorts of movies trade on.

With the right casting and a thorough examination of the highs and lows of these stars’ careers, Hollywood has some potential mega hits on their hands. They’ve never been averse to printing money before, so expect studios to cash in on this trend.
