Who Could Star: Tilda Swinton

The ethereal musician led quite a life, becoming a star of both music and movies while maintaining his artistic integrity right up until the end. With a career spanning six decades, there’s quite a story to dive into.

There’s obviously the musical genius to cover, with Bowie shaping musical genres in a way few other artists did. His sound moved with the times, but importantly, the times moved with him too.

He was often at the forefront of the brave new ideas of the ‘70s and ‘80s, becoming more stripped back and soulful as he aged.

Away from music, Bowie was outspoken on sexuality, politics, religion and many more contentious topics; any potential film would not be short on drama.

Tilda Swinton might on paper seem like a strange choice, but there’s no way to do a Bowie flick other than to be strange. Aside from the gender flip, Swinton bears startling resemblance to Bowie, and she’s crossed gender boundaries before with Orlando.

It’s strange, but so perfect that all other picks would just leave you with the feeling that it’s weird they haven’t gone for Tilda Swinton anyway.
