2. White God
It isn't very often that a movie comes along with a pitch as unique as White God, the Hungarian drama directed by Kornél Mundruczó which has been described as a gritty arthouse version of Homeward Bound. This strange and unique concept alone should be enough for braver movie fans to put its release date in their diary, but the streak of awards the film has picked up - including the Prize Un Certain Regard at last year's Cannes Film Festival - should be more than enough to convince even the most sceptical viewer that this is a film worth checking out. A mass canine revolt in a large city sounds like a logistical filmmaking nightmare, but by all accounts White God pulls it off with confidence and style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIGz2kyo26U
