10 New Films You Didn't Expect From Dead Movie Franchises (That Look Terrible)

1. Planes (From Above The World Of Cars)

Planes The first Cars was a film unfairly maligned by many. While it did mark an unwelcome departure from Pixar's more balanced features, it had the humour and heart we expected from them. Cars 2, however, sucked. It€™s kinda like Ocean€™s 12 with vehicles, taking the characters we knew (but didn't really love) and putting them in a situation they have no business being in. The biggest mistake was clearly making Mater, a character I don€™t think even the most gullible child liked, the star. But from a ridiculous message to a plot that pushes the traditional contrivances of family films to its limits, the film is a terrible failure. Director John Lasseter seems to be the only person who actually likes the series, gleeful whenever discussing the film, but that couldn't have prepared us for what is to come to cinema€™s this summer. Planes was a long planned spin-off from Cars produced in-house by Disney, originally planned for a straight-to-DVD release, but recently bumped up to an August cinema release. There€™s no reason why and with only one trailer, audiences have no idea what to expect. The main reason this film tops the list is because it completely personifies an unnecessary sequel, devoid of purpose or anticipation. Could the theatrical release mean that Disney have ended up with something actually good on their hands. Or do they just spy another quick buck of gullible parents? Only time will tell.* *It€™s clearly the latter Are there any more unnecessary sequels you're dreading? Or have we been overly harsh on what could end up being the best films in the coming years?
