10 New Films You Didn't Expect From Dead Movie Franchises (That Look Terrible)

3. The Smurfs 3

Smurfs What makes The Smurfs stand out from the rest of the films on this list is that so far there€™s only been one film released. But in the 'makes a profit' equals 'must sequalize' world, not only are we getting a sequel this year, but a third film in 2015. That€™s right. The second live action/CGI adaptation of The Smurfs is such a bankable success that a third film is already been planned. There's little to go on, what with another movie to come first, but that doesn't remove the sheer ridiculousness of the concept. The Smurfs 2 looks about as original as the first film; there€™s a little bit of plot beyond 'the Smurfs go to New York', but it looks to be the same pandering mess that led to such derision of the first time around. The Smurfs made over half a billion off $100 million, which is a fair amount, but whatever tolerance audiences had for that won€™t last through two more films. Get out Neil Patrick Harris. Get out as soon as you contractually can.
