10 New Things We Learned About Joss Whedon's Justice League

8. The Penguin Exists In The DCEU

Seeing as how Warner Bros. opted for a more grizzled, cynical and indeed older Dark Knight in their cinematic universe - one who had seen pretty much all there is to see when it comes to crimefighting - we've been left with a lot of questions regarding the character's history. Suicide Squad and BVS pretty much confirmed that at least one Robin had been brutally murdered at the hands of the Joker, but what of the others? Is Dick Grayson roaming around as Nightwing? Is Tim Drake even a thing anymore?

These are questions that fans will doubtlessly be asking until Matt Reeves' Batman finally drops in 2019, but we were at least given another tidbit regarding Batman's history in this trailer, and that is that The Penguin is very much a member of his Rogues Gallery.

Alfred's remark regarding Oswald Cobblepot's avian explosives may only confirm something fans had long presumed to be a thing anyway, but it's a nice nod towards the character's history, and gives everyone an idea of the type of Batman we can expect to see in the League. Apart from that, the trailer also made mention of Arkham Asylum, and we all know how prone that place is to the odd breakout here and there.
