10 New Things We Learned About Joss Whedon's Justice League

6. Superman's Death Is Still Relatively Fresh

One of the more interesting things regarding Saturday's trailer was that it told us that Superman's death was still fresh in the mind of the public; flowers adorn his memorial and London's Tower Bridge drapes the black and white version of Kal's symbol from its peak. The world is very much in the process of mourning.

These acts of collective remembrance may seem odd at first, given just how hostile everyone was when the Man of Steel last made a public appearance, but it illustrates that the events of Justice League take place not so long after the Trinity's fight with Doomsday. Four of the League's members (Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Cyborg) also pay a visit to Superman's Metropolis memorial. Whether it's to motivate them before the film's final confrontation or for some other reason, it's clear that Supes is set to play as big a role in this film dead as much as he would alive.

Regardless, this new team will have a lot to live up to when they first assemble. Here's hoping the public's reaction is decidedly less chilly than it was a year earlier.
