10 New Things We Learned About Joss Whedon's Justice League
5. There's No Green Lantern In Sector 2814 (Yet)
Given how iconic Green Lantern is as a member of the Justice League, you'd be forgiven for wondering why he isn't among the film's roster. Granted, 2011's CG-laded box-office bomb did much to harm the character's onscreen capital, but he's still one of DC's most popular heroes. A return shouldn't be left off the cards.
And indeed, it looks like the character is set for one. Steppenwolf's narration confirms that the Lantern Corps are very much a thing in this continuity (although they lack a presence on Earth), and so it would make sense that a film should follow. Said film will purportedly centre around Hal Jordan and John Stewart, but what the trailer tells us is that neither are yet to recite the Lantern oath. Indeed, it even hints that Abin Sur - the onetime guardian of Sector 2814 - just doesn't exist in this continuity. Earth has no Lantern protection whatsoever.
It'll take a lot to make audiences forget Ryan Reynolds' much maligned turn as character, but at least we know the Corps are very much a thing in the current mould of the DCEU.
