10 New Year's Resolutions For 2013's Biggest Movie Characters

5. To Try Planning Ahead - John McClane (A Good Day To Die Hard)

John McClane is frequently said to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, though it does seem like terrorists often construct their plots so that he'll be around to thwart them. He's constantly complaining that he has to be a hero again but this could all be avoided with a little bit of forward planning. 2013 saw him visit the serene land of Russia where nothing could possibly go wrong, could it? On second thought, he should really take some time to sun his shiny head and let someone else end a few of the world's crises. From the Nakatomi Plaza to Chernobyl, if he'd had a little more foresight he'd have been able to avoid the majority of the fireworks. I'm all for watching McClane's heroics and hearing him taunt dangerous men despite their clear insanity but in 2014 he's definitely due a bit of a holiday. And one where there aren't a lot of terrorists, preferably. He needs to plan his life out better, between films he seemingly rises and drops ranks in the force depending on the plot. He's either at the top of his game or down and out with no middle ground to speak of. This New Year is a great opportunity for him to start planning ahead, get his head down and sort out his erratic life.
