7. Will Audiences Buy Into Yet Another Gang Of Mutants? - X-Men: The New Mutants

Just when you thought that the X-Men series might be winding down (what with the unfortunate death of everyone's favourite character), 20th Century Fox announce a bunch of spin-offs set for a 2018 release, one of which is this.

X-Men: The New Mutants is set to hone in on yet another band of mutant characters attending Professor X's school for the gifted at a yet to be confirmed point in time (though one can probably surmise that it will be during the James McAvoy years, given the events depicted in Logan).

Thing is, X-Men: Apocalypse was a bit of a let down, wasn't it? The film failed to cement our continued interest in any characters not played by Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, or Michael Fassbender. And here's a film that asks us to invest in another group of mutants we've never met, played by - if the casting rumours are anything to buy into - some not very big name actors.

The elephant in the room here, really, surrounds the very notion of the film's existence. I'm worried that it has failure written all over it unless the story is made incredibly unique or special. There's only so many times you can walk the same path before fatigue sets in. Not to mention that the timeline is so bloody confusing now, what with Deadpool and Logan.
