10 Niggling Worries Over Marvel's Next 10 Movies

8. Is Director Scott Derrickson A Sensible Choice? - Doctor Strange

Scott Derrickson is a director of bad horror movies (Hellraiser: Inferno, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister) and a rubbish sci-fi remake (The Day the Earth Stood Still). What could have possibly drawn Marvel to this particular person, you ask, save for the fact that the studio can probably guarantee that he will comply with each and every one of their demands? There's a chance that Derrickson could pull it out of the bag, of course; he might find his directorial abilities are suddenly enhanced whilst working on the immortal master, Kevin Feige. But given his track record, is it really so bad to be a little worried about this one? Benedict Cumberbatch has signed on in the title role, of course, but will that be enough? To be fair, though, the problem with Derrickson's films is usually the script - as a director, he's shown flashes of genuine creativity. Here's hoping Jon Spaihts' script is good, then.
