10 Non-Christmassy Christmas Films To Watch At Christmas

5. Gremlins

The Chronicles of Narnia
Amblin

Before Baby Yoda came into our lives, there was really only one big-eyed little ball of cuteness that we all loved - and that was Gizmo from the Gremlins movies.

1984's Gremlins is the perfect non-Christmassy Christmas movie. Even though the movie takes place around the festive season, it’s not directly linked to Christmas that much, and the film was actually originally released in June of '84.

Gremlins tell the story of a salesman looking for the perfect gift for his children. Running out of time, he buys them a strange new pet that ends up causing them a whole load of problems.

Show your children this at the right age and they will love it! They won't be distracted by the fact Gremlins is an "old film" and they will fall in love with the imaginative cast of characters and all the mischief that the Gremlins get up to over the course of the movie.

Gremlins was followed by its less successful sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, and a third film has long been stuck in development hell. Let's just hope that if and when Gremlins 3 does happen, the practical effects and spirt that made the first movie so great are present and accounted for.
