10 Non-Rated R Films That Dropped The F Bomb To Great Use

8. Titanic

The Drop: "Incredible. There's Smith and he's standing there and he's got the iceberg warning in his f***ing hands, excuse, his hands, and he's ordering more speed." Upon seeing Titanic for the first time as a six-year-old child, I had no idea this was coming and neither did my parents at the time. The F bomb is dropped in the present segment of the film's timeline, with Lewis Abernathy's character Lewis Bodine speaking his mind when Rose pauses her account of events during the voyage of the legendary Titanic. When Rose reaches the point in her retelling of events where Captain Smith ignores the iceberg warnings €“ making head-way instead of going around €“ the timeline briefly switches to its present stage when the crew of the Keldysh take in the story and give their opinions on the matter. In comes Lewis Bodine, the comic relief of this particular timeline, to engage in a strong opinionated approach to Smith's foolish choice. The shocking usage of the F bomb in front an elderly lady like Rose is what sells this delivery; Bodine, himself a senseless character but still hilarious, doesn't realize who's in front of him when he drops it, yet still has the mannerisms to apologize for his carelessness. For a film revolving around a love story and the real-life event of one of the world's most famous tragedies, this moment somewhat softens the blow. If only by a little.
