10 Non-Rated R Films That Dropped The F Bomb To Great Use

7. Forrest Gump

The Drop: "The war in Viet-f***ing -nam! Perhaps the most lovable film on this list, Forrest Gump is one of those films that captured the hearts of millions and told the epic story of Forrest Gump and his journey through life witnessing war, love, friendship, and death. And for its boldness comes a PG-13 film that pulls a few harrowing stunts of its own, displaying fleeting glimpses of nudity, war violence, drug use, and even the primordial F bomb itself. After Forrest serves his time in the Vietnam war, and after the loss of his best friend Benjamin Buford "Bubba" Blue, he takes part in a anti-war rally in Washington D.C. among a group of hippy counterculture activists. Being put on the pedestal by an eccentric hippy to give his speech about what the war was like, he's asked what it was like fighting in Vietnam. Forrest questions it, as he does throughout the film, clarifying if the question was aimed at Vietnam. Then the hippy jumps in front of Gump to yell in the microphone, "The war in Viet-f***ing-nam!" The crowd gathering at the Lincoln Monument then goes in a cheering uproar, awaiting Gump's response. For reasons relating to that culture's attitude and personal ties to the news back then, the justification of the hippy dropping the F bomb is more aimed towards his passion for America as a country, using strong language to shoot his point across on a dramatic and personal level. Of course there were small instances of the hippy dropping the bomb before Gump jumped on the mic, but the final bomb he delivered seemed to bring the message home.
