3. Airplane Crash - Knowing
Two airplane scenes that somehow redeemed two bad movies on a single list? You gotta be kidding me! That has to come down to some cosmic conspiracy engineered by aliens or something, right? Or maybe, no, it's just a coincidence, which is what it totally is. That's to say,
Knowing (which starred Nicolas Cage and was directed by Alexander Proyas), was a jumbled mess of ideas that settled for a nonsense twist and annoyed everyone who saw it. The entire movie is a waste of your time, although there's a plane crash sequence at around about
Knowing's mid-point that will pretty much blow you away. Filmed in a single take (or what appears to be one, anyway), it comes out of nowhere and looks realistic as hell - so good is it, in fact, that you genuinely feel like you're watching an actual catastrophe play out. Proyas obviously took more time making sure this sequence was up to scratch than he did with the actual story.
