10 Obscure Actors Who Deserve More Respect

3. Jonathan Pryce

Jonathan PryceYou've Seen Him In: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) Jonathan Pryce first made his name as the star of Terry Gilliam's gonzo masterpiece Brazil (1985), and ever since has been appearing in tons of movies in tiny roles, from Al Pacino's mark in Glengarry Glen Ross to Keira Knightley's dad in the Pirates of the Caribbean films, from King James in Terrence Malick's The New World to the president in the recent GI: Joe movies. Pryce is an immensely likable and deeply British actor of enviable range who has, despite forty years of stage and screen experience, been relegated to fourth-line billing at best. The Role He Needs: A real juicy biopic, probably. People on the internet have pointed out Pryce's striking resemblance to Pope Francis; perhaps a movie about the rise of the apparently groundbreaking Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio to the papacy?
