10 Obscure Horror Movies You Need To Discover

1. Triangle (2009)

Triangle is a psychological horror film directed by Christopher Smith. The most recognisable names on show here are Melissa George and Liam Hemsworth. The plot is about five people who go out for a little sail. Disaster strikes as a storm hits, and they are set adrift on their upturned yacht until a cruise liner rescues them. They find the ship empty, but soon a masked gunman appears and tries to kill them. After Jess (Melissa George) battles and throws the killer off the side of the ship, she hears cries from off the bow of the ship and sees herself and her friends climbing aboard the cruise liner again. What the ???? I hear you ask. Well, that€™s about as much as I can say about the plot without ruining it. It truly is a brilliant film. We get blood shed, some cool kills and a plot which will definitely make you think during and long after the film ends.

Cheating a little, but here are 3 honourable mentions that so nearly made the list:

Inside (2007) €“ Another French film. A very violent tale of a woman who is tormented in her home by a strange woman who wants her unborn baby. Possibly one of the most violent films I have ever seen, with an ending you won't see repeated in a Hollywood made movie that's for sure.

Wolf Creek (2005) €“ Another 'based on a true story' type of film about stranded backpackers in remote Australia who fall prey to a murderous bushman, played by the incredible John Jarrett. It's worth watching for his performance alone. It took quite a lot of money eventually though, so I omitted it from my initial 10, but feel it deserves a sneaky mention anyway.

Snowtown (2011) - Snowtown is an Australian film based on the true story of €˜The Snowtown Murders€™, also known as the €™Bodies in Barrels€™ murders, where 11 people in South Australia were murdered. A harrowing, hard to watch true story, certainly not for everyone but a great film full of superb performances.
