10 Obscure Movies You Haven't Seen (But Should)

5. Remote Control (1988)

Remotecontrol Pre-Entourage Kevin Dillon is the better of the Dillon brothers. While Matt was off doing acclaimed indie faves like Drugstore Cowboy and To Die For, Kevin was out there making sure that the world never faced a shortage of good B-movies like the Blob remake and this gem. It was a noble undertaking and I€™d like to think he did it not for a paycheck but for genre fans out there. The better Dillon plays the coolest video store clerk ever, a combination of James Dean rebel and film geek, who teams up with his best friend and a fashion challenged fitness freak to stop an alien plot to takeover the world with VHS copies of a 50€™s sci-fi flick....called €œRemote Control." Jennifer Tilly and her voice show up for a hot five minutes but it doesn€™t help or hurt the proceedings one bit. It€™s a movie made for film geeks by a film geek. Kevin Dillon watches a Truffaut movie to impress a girl all the while being embroiled in a plot that is as ludicrous as the VHS he€™s trying to track down. A B-movie that is comfortable in its own skin and confident enough to have fun with it. And by the way Kevin Dillon is in it.

Just like Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse, Mickey Galie is the best friend a good time ever had.
