10 Once-Great Movie Franchises That Just Need To Die
9. Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park was pure Spielberg magic. The science fiction adventure film arrived in 1993 and was loved equally by critics and audiences, rising quickly to become the highest-grossing film worldwide at that point in time.
Spielberg managed to combine memorable characters with great performances, a stunning score by the legendary John Williams and state-of-the-art special effects. It cannot be understated how huge of a cultural and artistic impact Jurassic Park had on cinema. If only the story had ended there.
Today the franchise manifests as the Jurassic World films, the first of which arrived in the summer of 2015. Jurassic World became an absolute monster at the Box Office becoming one of the highest grossing films of all time. The film itself however is a hollow shell of the magic and wonder of the original.
All of the Spielberg wizardry has gone and what's left is a soulless soft-reboot of the original film with worse special effects and unlikable, bland characters. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom came next and in perhaps a fitting metaphor the film destroyed Isla Nublar, signalling the end of what was once great about this franchise.
