10 Once-Great Movie Franchises That Just Need To Die
8. Men In Black
Men in Black is a staple of the 1990s that has failed to be dragged into the 21st Century successfully. The sci-fi comedy brought together Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in a Buddy cop scenario that took advantage of Smith's comedic talents in tangent with Jones' stoic presence. The film spawned a number of underwhelming sequels including Men in Black 3 which arrived fifteen years after the original, and brought Josh Brolin into the fray, playing a younger version of Jones' character.
When Men in Black 3 failed to deliver, the studio decided on a spin-off with the cast of Thor: Ragnarok Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. Men in Black: International was the franchise's first attempt to stand on it's own without the star power of Will Smith behind it, which turned out to be a massive failure as the film was criticised for its forgettable plot and was described by many as the worst entry into the franchise.
Quite amazingly, after the infamous Sony leak of 2014, details emerged of a plan to make a crossover film with the 21 Jump Street franchise, nicknamed 'MiB 23'. The film thankfully never came to fruition and with that being said, it's clear Sony Pictures does not have a clue what they are doing with the franchise and should probably just leave it alone.
