10 One Man Army Movies Not To Be Slept On

The twist in this One Man Army story is that the man in question has very little say in the destruction he causes.

In the not-too-distant future, Grey Trace (Logan Marshall-Green) is left paralysed after gunmen attack his car and murder his wife. After sinking into a deep depression, Trace agrees to have a revolutionary computer chip implanted in his body. He regains the ability to walk, but at a price.

This is Upgrade, a 2018 Australian-American sci-fi action film from Leigh Whannell, the man behind Saw, Insidious, and the 2020 Invisible Man. The premise is that STEM, the chip inside of Grey, persuades its host to enact bloody revenge on his wife’s killers, which he is able to do through his technologically augmented body.

Basically, Grey is a robo-ninja now, and it’s cool as hell.

Instead of simply relying on its great concept, which lesser movies may have done, Upgrade has a genuinely compelling narrative full of twists and turns, as well as beautiful fight scenes right out of a classic action romp.

If you’re after something a little different, then this is the Upgrade for you.
