10 Opening Horror Movie Scenes That Should've Been Cut
1. The Cabin Massacre - Evil Dead Rise
This entry will surely rustle some feathers, but hear us out.
Sure, the opening title drop for Evil Dead Rise is freakin' awesome, but the whole cabin sequence leading up to it? A bit pointless, really.
The movie's first scene actually takes place a day after the events of the main story, as a Deadite-infested young woman brutally scalps and decapitates two of her friends at a cabin getaway.
We then go back to one day earlier as the central narrative involving Beth (Lily Sullivan) and her family fending off Deadites in a condemned apartment building plays out.
The final scene then reveals that Jessica (Anna-Maree Thomas), the infected girl from the opening scene, lives in the same building as Beth's family, and is promptly possessed by the demonic force, causing the events shown at the start of the movie.
But honestly, why not just have the events play out chronologically?
The main story is strong enough that there really isn't any need to randomly shove the cabin set-piece to the start of the film, and if it needed to be in the movie at all, why not just let it play out at the end, with that fantastic title drop bringing the entire film to an incredible crescendo?
