10 Opening Movie Scenes NOTHING Like The Rest Of The Film

K2 is just one of several mountaineering thrillers produced during the 1990s, and it's certainly not one of the better ones - it's no Cliffhanger, anyway.

The film is a dramatisation of the first two Americans to climb the titular mountain, fictionalised here as weekend warriors Taylor Brooks (Michael Biehn) and Harold Jameson (Matt Craven).

And while a solid 95% of the movie is focused on climbing and the surrounding dramas, the opening scene is something totally different.

We're pointlessly "treated" to almost five minutes of Brooks and Jameson drunkenly goofing around with two girls they pick up, culminating in Brooks using his climbing skills to vault up to their bedroom window.

The scene confirms to us that Brooks is the thrill-seeker of the pair while Jameson is the more bookish nerd, but honestly, the rest of the movie does that in the more appropriate venue of, you know, actual mountain climbing. What a strange waste of time.
