10 Original Movies To Keep On Your Radar For The Rest Of 2017

Though David Ayer's last movie wasn't received positively in the slightest, his next effort, Bright, looks to be something of a return to form for the director - mainly because it shares a similar setup with his best movie, End Of Watch.

That setup? Two cops with vastly different backgrounds set out on their daily grind. But Bright has one, massive difference when compared to Ayer's other police-centric movie; it's set in a world full of mystical creatures like Orcs and Elves, living alongside humans.

Will Smith and Joel Edgerton star as a human and an orc, respectively, a mismatched pair who are forced to team up in order to find a magic weapon, a powerful item that, in the wrong hands, could be used with devastating consequences.

Bright's supernatural elements, when combined with Ayer's down-and-gritty directorial style, should make for a one-of-a-kind experience, and with the irreverent Max Landis on scripting duties, Bright will either be a mess tonally or a brilliant coming together of styles.

Here's hoping for the latter.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
