10 Oscar Film Categories That Should Totally Exist

6. Best Voice Acting Performance

Every actor in Hollywood has loaned up their voice to the likes of an animated movie, because who's going to resist the temptation to go into a studio for a few days, record a bunch of lines, and get paid a ton of money for doing so? Nobody! Best of all, people don't seem to care when a famous or respected actor provides a voice for a bad film - it just sort of gets forgotten about. But that doesn't mean that, from time to time, an actor won't offer up a voice acting performance to end all voice acting performances - think Robin Williams in Aladdin, or (to cite a more recent example) Scarlett Johansson in Her. In the case of the latter, the movie in question wasn't even an animated one. And yet Johansson, who plays virtual girlfriend Samantha, was arguably the best part of the whole film. It's almost as if the Academy consider voice work to be of little consequence to the cinematic medium on the whole; this category would go a long way to ensuring great vocal performances get the credit they deserve.
