10 Oscar Worthy Performances Of The 2000s That Didn't Get Nominations

8. Ellen Page, Hard Candy (2005)

Hard CandyThe Role: Ellen Page plays Hayley Stark, a 14-year-old with a thirst for vengeance. In Hard Candy, Hayley spends 104 minutes making life an absolute hell for pedophile Jeff Kohlver. Why It's Oscar Worthy: When we think of great Ellen Page performances, the first film that comes to mind is 2007's Juno; however, we often overlook Page's breakthrough performance as 14-year-old Hayley Stark. Page's performance is everything it had to be for this film to work--diabolical, powerful, and chilling. Helen Mirren won at the 79th Academy Awards for her performance in The Queen, and it's hard to make a case against her as Mirren's performance remains one of the best, if not the best, of the century; however, Page still deserved more attention for her role as the cunning Stark in this indie darling.
