10 (Other) Movies About Wrestling That Hollywood Needs To Make

8. The Monday Night Wars

Easily one of the most exciting times to be a wrestling fan ever was during the so-called Monday Night Wars, where from September 1995 to March 2001, WCW's Monday Nitro and the WWF's Monday Night Raw jostled for ratings supremacy, employing the most dirty and underhanded tactics to try to one-up one another which, of course, made for some damn fantastic television, and as such, it'd make a damn fine movie too. Nitro ended up being broadcast live opposite the taped airing of Raw, and they managed to pull viewers away from Raw by having WWF stars "defect" to WCW at a moment's notice once their contracts were up, such as having Lex Luger show up on Nitro the day after he worked a WWF house show. WCW hit a home-run with the introduction of the New World Order (nWo), which featured the likes of Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan, while the WWF employed increasingly outrageous, attention-grabbing storylines to try and win viewers back, creating the famous Attitude Era, spearheaded by Stone Cold Steve Austin. In the end, the WWF won out while WCW, after holding an 84-week lead over the WWF, began to decline under mis-management (namely allowing Nash to become a booker).
