7. J-Lo's Bum Deal
The Rumour: For a good while, Jennifer Lopez's backside was the talk to the world. It was huge, in more sense than one, and rumours abounded in 1999 (as apparently started by the Sun and the New York Post) that Lopez had ensured her entire body for $1 billion - including $100million for each breast, and $300million for her legs and rear. Eventually the story went through the usual mangles and changed so that her backside alone had been indemnified for the massive $1billion. Quite what it would have been insured against remains to be confirmed.
The Truth: Strangely, Lopez has been almost comically non-committal over the years about it, leading to even further speculation. "I don't know where they got it from. When I heard the story I thought it was very funny." Her agent was even more muddy on the issue: "At this time we cannot confirm or deny this information." It's hard to tell really - sportsmen do insure parts of their bodies against injury, but it still seems something of a stretch that J Lo would insure her body for so much, unless she suspected something was going to go wrong with it?
