10 Overblown Film Directors Who Need To Learn The Meaning Of Restraint

1. Michael Bay

Michael Bay Explosion Michael Bay is the go-to guy when film critics need an example of film making at its most mindless. There's a reason for that. After becoming successful early on with Bad Boys and The Rock, Bay stumbled across a simple formula which guaranteed him a lifetime of success, but also a lifetime of critical derision. The formula is this: If you throw an obscene amount of money at a film, you will make an obscene amount back, BUT only if the movie is so mindless that it will appeal to people across all walks of life. Young, old, black, white, rich, poor, male, female, gay, straight... none of that matters, as long as there are people out there who enjoy watching CGI hunks of metal throwing punch after punch on an increasingly grander and more ridiculous scale. The new Superbowl trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction features a robot alien warrior riding a gigantic robo-dinosaur alien monster. I don't care how it's done, but this needs to be stopped. Immediately. Let us know if you agree with my choices and if there are any other overblown directors out there who deserve to be singled out and ridiculed. Name and shame!
