If nothing else, Horns showed producers that audiences aren't really interested in Daniel Radcliffe when he isn't casting spells, riding brooms or being overly British. His first major post-Potter effort - The Woman In Black - garnered a healthy chunk of cash and critical acclaim, spawning a sequel in the process, but Horns quickly faded from cinemas just as Radcliffe's patchy American accent would frequently fade from his performance.

But this minor flaw hardly makes the film unwatchable - Horns' quirky, offbeat tale of a twenty-something murder suspect who literally sprouts a pair of the Devil's best out the top of his head is transfixing at times, possessing an ethereal quality that holds your attention throughout some of the films more ridiculous moments. Indeed, if you've ever wanted to see Harry Potter command an army of snakes to attack a vulnerable young woman, there's only one place you can do that.

Horns' critical and commercial failure is easy to blame on its sheer oddness, but if you're up for something wildly different, then you'll find a lot to enjoy here. The ending does go a bit too far into cheesy territory and derails the movie's darker tone, but the rest of the film isn't as catastrophic - Horns is packed full of striking cinematography and strong performances, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that Radcliffe doesn't have to rely on the wizarding world to carry him.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
