10 Overlooked Horror Slasher Movies That Deserve Your Attention

8. Curtains

Chances are, that if you're reading this list you're likely familiar with the most iconic scene from Curtains. In which an aspiring young actress goes ice-skating, only to be suddenly accosted by an assailant in a hag mask that's wielding a very large scythe.

That scene in particular has become infamous amongst horror fans, yet Curtains still remains largely underseen. The tale of six actresses who are stalked by a masked killer may sound like old-hat, but this film's surreal atmosphere and mournful tone do set it apart from other films in its ilk.

Outside of the routine slayings, this film has several divergent subplots and character beats that feel weirdly out of place in a slasher film but somehow work in tandem to create a unique feeling of dread and unease.

It's also a surprisingly well-made film too, with a lot of care and attention to detail put into its camerawork and direction, which does help to elevate it even further above many of its contemporaries for sheer style alone. The plot may seem a little nonsensical and sprawling in places, but on the whole, Curtains is a great little slasher that is well worth seeking out.
