10 Overlooked Positives Of Divisive Upcoming Movies

3. The Source Has The Potential For A Trilogy - Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Why The Film Is Questionable: Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 may have arrived in cinema with a tagline proclaiming "It all ends", but there was a niggling feeling that this wasn't actually the last audiences would see of the wizarding world. This was Warner Bros. biggest ever cash cow - if there was a chance to scrape some more money from it you can bet they would. And thus it was with a distinct lack of surprise that it was announced Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, a thin book from within the Harry Potter universe J. K. Rowling wrote for charity, was going to become an epic trilogy charting the early 20th Century adventures of author Newt Scamander. Although just because it was expected doesn't make it easy to swallow - the book is only 42 pages, making The Hobbit's expansion look positively necessary. The Overlooked Positive: Have you actually sat down and read Fantastic Beasts? It's really not hard to see it working as the basis for a movie. It may be a slight pseudo non-fiction schoolbook, but throughout Rowling's showing off her impressive world-building skills, making the land outside Hogwarts more defined and hinting at exciting events just begging to be expanded upon. The "About the author" page for Scamander alone is enough to think there may be potential in the idea - his life story is essentially the synopsis of the films. Whether or not it can be capitalised on by first-time screenwriter Rowling is obvious unclear, but there's certainly the scope for something good.
