10 Overlooked Positives Of The Matrix Revolutions

3. The Epic Zion Battle

Revolutions' Zion battle features more action alone than most movies do entirely, a sustained 20-minute set-piece in which Zion's best soldiers attempt to fend off an overwhelming Sentinel assault.

The highlights are numerous: for starters, Captain Mifune going out like a true hero and giving the Kid his own saviour moment as he opens the gate for The Hammer to get through. Then there's the relentless carnage of the APUs firing away at the Sentinel swarm, Zee and her pal firing on them from afar, and Niobe's insane piloting as she drives the Hammer through Zion's dangerous mechanical lines.

That it manages to remain thrilling despite lasting so long is a testament to the Wachowskis deciding to fleet around the fight and observe numerous perspectives. It's brutal and desperate, just as humanity's last stand should be.
