10 Overlooked & Underappreciated 90s Action Movie Flicks

1. Rapid Fire (1992)

Tough And Deadly Roddy Piper
20th Century Fox

Brandon Lee played the lead in The Crow; the movie went on to be a big success and his role should have propelled him to a super-stardom he could bask in. Sadly, he died in 1993 due to an accident on the set of the dark thriller. He was on the rise prior to his early passing, starring in a couple of excellent action flicks. First was opposite Dolph Lundgren in Showdown in Little Tokyo in 1991 and the other was this gem, Rapid Fire.

Lee plays Jake Lo, a disenchanted but gifted art student who witnesses the killing of a drug lord at the hands of mafia man, Serrano. Lo reluctantly agrees to go into hiding until he can testify against the killer. The agents at the safe house, however, are corrupt and Jake is forced to go on the run. Our hero does not know who he can trust, that is until he meets determined detective, Mace Ryan (Powers Boothe). After a touchy start to their relationship, Ryan becomes akin to a father figure. Together they team up to take down the bad guys once and for all.

A script was written for a Rapid Fire 2 and Brandon Lee was onboard to reprise his role. Alas, it was not to be.
