10 Overused Filming Locations You Never Noticed In Your Favorite Movies And TV Shows
6. Englefield House, Berkshire
Built before 1558 but substantially altered in the 1820s, Englefield House has been home to many influential Brits, including Lord Francis Paulet, Sir Henry Benyon, and, most recently, Conservative Party politician Richard Benyon.
The house itself sits on a large estate and its gardens are open to visitors. Covering more than 20,000 acres, Englefield House is recognizable for its appearance in movies like The King’s Speech, Great Expectations, and The Go-Between. Popular for its grandiose appearance and Elizabethan style, Englefield House has served as home to a young Professor X in both X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Apocalypse, Miss Havisham in Great Expectations, and Robin Cavendish in Breathe.
Other notable appearances and uses include Pippa Middleton’s wedding reception and the outrageously stupid American reality TV show, I Wanna Marry “Harry”—as in the Prince Harry.
Spoiler alert: The single suitor wasn’t the real Prince Harry—merely his non-royal doppelgänger, Matthew Hicks.
