10 Overused Filming Locations You Never Noticed In Your Favorite Movies And TV Shows

5. Ennis House, Los Angeles

Mont Saint Michel Corona
Allied Artists / Warner Bros / HBO

Designed by Frank Lloyd Right, the Ennis House’ Mayan Revival style and monumental size make for the perfect filming location. With an interior equally as elaborate and unique, the house features mosaics, huge windows to allow maximum sunlight, balconies with sweeping views of Los Angeles, and more.

The home’s exterior, which features over 27,000 blocks arranged across a concrete platform, served as Deckard's apartment in Blade Runner and episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The house’s uniquely textured interior, complete with stained glass windows and comprised of sand, gravel, and granite, served as inspiration for the Meereen Palace in Game of Thrones.

With over 80 on-screen appearances, the palatial home was the star of its own movie, House on Haunted Hill, as the role of—you guessed it—the house on the aforementioned hill. Ennis House is closed to the public but was put on the market in July of 2018 for a cool $23 million.

Know as his "textile block houses,” the world-renowned architect designed three other homes of similar style and equal screen value. His Millard House, Samuel Freeman House, and Storer House, have also appeared in plenty of TV shows and movies, including The Matrix, Romeo Must Die, and a handful of episodes of Westworld.
