Natalie Portman was said to be deeply upset about Marvel's decision to fire Patty Jenkins, so much so that she wanted to get out of starring in Thor: The Dark World. The actress who had convinced them to hire the director in the first place, but there was no way Portman could leave the movie at this stage because the script was written and contracts signed. Having been forced to star in the sequel, rumours have since been running rampant that the actress won't ever return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's why Portman wasn't in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and also why she's not expected to reprise the role of Jane Foster in the sure to be mostly Asgard based Thor: Ragnarok. While she's not a huge box office draw, Marvel Studios losing one of their most talented leading ladies is still unfortunate.
