9. Christopher Nolan
Nomination and Year: Best Motion Picture of the Year: Inception (2011) Best Original Screenplay: Inception (2011) Best Original Screenplay: Memento (2002) It is merely a matter of time before Christopher Nolan wins his first academy award; the man is a genius. His mind-bendingly awesome thrillers Memento and Inception narrowly missed out on the Best Original Screenplay award, losing to Gosford Park and The Kings Speech respectively. His reinvention of the Batman series brought him worldwide fame as a director, even if The Academy disregards him when choosing their nominations. Amazingly, The Dark Knight Rises hasnt received a single nomination at this years Oscars. However the Oscars has a strange tendency of belatedly rewarding people who are long overdue one of those golden statuettes. It wasnt until 2007 that Martin Scorcese won his first Oscar for TheDeparted. A similar case could be made for Al Pacino who picked up the Best Actor award in 1993 for Scent of a Woman, despite delivering a succession of other knock-out acting performances in the previous twenty years of his career. I may not be able to tell you when, but I am confident that Christopher Nolans day will come.

Anchorman is my favourite film.
