3. Mephisto

In the Infinity Gauntlet comic book storyline, it was Mephisto who filled the role that this very article is referring to. Everything Thanos was doing in that storyline was in order to impress Death - who probably won't be in the film - and he also created Terraxia to make Death jealous (and she probably won't be in the movie if Death isn't), but it was Mephisto who stood by his side as his accomplice and underling, albeit with the nefarious intention of gaining the Infinity Gauntlet's power for himself. With the introduction of Doctor Strange and the mystical/supernatural side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes the real possibility that Mephisto could be introduced - and that increases the chances of him having the exact same role he filled in the comic books. The pairing would make a frightening-looking team and their combined powers would be nigh-on unstoppable, but the added dynamic of Mephisto actually working against Thanos would make the whole thing even more interesting that it otherwise would be.
