10 Perfect Casting Choices to Support Ben Affleck's Batman

7. Bryan Cranston - Commissioner Jim Gordon

Not enough has been said about Gary Oldman€™s portrayal of Batman€™s most loyal partner. The character was one of the most overlooked aspects in Burton and Schumacher€™s films, but something Christopher Nolan got spot on. It is important for DC to continue to push the partnership between Jim Gordon and Batman, whose deep connection, understanding and respect for one another is pivotal in the comics. There was no hiding the disappointment amongst fans when Bryan Cranston was not offered the role of Lex Luthor, but that doesn€™t mean the Breaking Bad star can€™t still find a role suited for him in the DC Cinematic universe. The Golden Globe and Emmy winner is an immensely talented actor, he€™s a commanding, authoritative on-screen presence, controls every scene and can seemingly adapt to any situation €“ exactly the sort of person you€™d want to portray Gordon. A lot of decisions DC have made in their casting choices have been met with considerable criticism, so maybe it is time for them to give in to the fans just this once and hire Cranston. He€™s already voiced Jim Gordon in the animated €˜Batman: Year One€™, so why not offer him a chance to return?
