10 Perfect Casting Choices To Support Tom Holland’s Spider-Man
2. Mary Jane Watson – Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Despite initial criticisms, it was the right move to omit Mary Jane from the Amazing series – especially when considering how impressive Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy was – and now is the right time to bring the other love interest back.
The relationship between Peter and Mary Jane is such a huge part of Spider-Man’s story and their portrayal in Raimi’s series left a lot to be desired – Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst never quite had the chemistry Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone did – and Marvel need to be very careful with who they decide to bring in. MJ is fun, sassy, and basically the complete opposite of the boring, selfish person of Raimi’s trilogy – fans love Peter and MJ, and it’s about time they were both given the story they deserve.
Shailene Woodley’s experience with Sony may well mean she’s not interested in reprising her role as MJ, and there is a huge list of actresses who would be suitable for the role, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead definitely tops said list.
Although Winstead may be a little old for the role now, actors and actresses seems to portray more younger characters the older they get so it shouldn’t be that big an issue.
