A storyline marred by the increasingly frustrating situation regarding the rights to the Fantastic Four and their related properties, Annihilation would, however, make a fantastic film, given the chance.

Sure, Marvel don't have Silver Surfer (sigh), or Galactus (groan), Annihilus, or even the Super Skrull (meh). But they do have Nova, and Drax, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, and - for the purposes of Annihilation at least - they wear the story well. The story of a mass superhero culling probably won't earn Marvel any favours at the box office, but again, it's another cosmic level event that could match Infinity War in terms of scale, especially if Marvel Studios end up expanding that aspect of the universe.

With talk of a Ravagers spin-off having followed in the wake of Guardians 2, it's possible that a fully-blown cosmic crossover could, eventually, be on the cards. Where better to start than with Annihilation?
