Though the relationship between Muggles and the Magical Community was explored in a vague sort of way in the original series, there was never too much exploration into the true costs of the Wizarding World's potential impact on their Muggle counterparts.

What if a future Harry Potter film took a leaf firmly out of the X-Men books and had a powerful Muggle figure seeking to uncover their secrets and keep them under control, to perhaps make them accountable for the magical disasters and bouts of genocide that the Muggles have no control over?

It's intriguing to think of Harry himself as a sort of Professor X figure, teaching the value of positive Muggle/Magical relations as someone in Colonel Stryker's position on the other side of the divide seeks to destroy everything he has built. All of the elements are already there for an X-Men like approach, with the question of pure blood and cross-pollination with "normal" people having been discussed. It's effectively taking Petunia Dursley's anxiety (and hinted bigotry) to a natural end point.

And even better, there's inevitably also scope for that villain to be revealed to be a wizard (or more poetically a disgruntled squib), after they've torn a hole through the fabric of the wizarding world. That would obviously represent a major departure from simply recycling a Voldemort-centric story, and it sounds exactly like the kind of foundation for a great story.
