10 Perfect Movies With One Glaring Flaw

5. The Ewoks - Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi (1983)

Looper Bruce Willis
Lucasfilm

Despite being the weakest of the Star Wars original trilogy, Return of the Jedi is still a wonderful film to end one of cinema's most beloved stories.

That being said, it's not without its flaws. The clash with Jabba the Hutt goes on a little bit too long, but at least it makes for an exciting spectacle that brings the film's heroes together again. The same cannot be said of the ewoks, the creatures who dominate the last act and get tiresome uncomfortably fast.

Yes, the ewoks are cute, and yes, they helped the Rebels defeat the Empire. But their constant chirping and slapstick humour rapidly overstays its welcome, and jars with the darker scenes in which Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) confronts his conflicted father on the new Death Star.

The ewoks are not unforgiveable, but they are overused and slightly out of place. If only we lived in a world where that final battle happened with the wookies, as was originally intended.
